AI Training for the Mature
Founder, GraiPower Training
Hi, I’m Anthony Hughes, and I believe it’s never too late to embrace new technology – at over 70 years old I am living proof of that!
My journey in digital education spans over three and a half decades, and now I’ve become passionate about helping our generation master AI with confidence.
My academic foundation began at the University of Sydney, followed by a Master of Letters from the University of New England and a TESOL certification from the University of New South Wales. But what really shaped my perspective was working with learners across different countries, cultures and age groups.
In the early 1990s, I found myself in Europe, leading consultancy work for Australian universities. I had the privilege of directing Mondolingua, Geneva’s prestigious international education conference, and developed multimedia English courses for Swiss television before going on to launch my own digital media company for education. These experiences taught me the importance of making complex topics accessible to everyone. It also made me rethink and re-shape my ideas about learning, education, and especially the need for lifelong learning practices that we should carry with us throughout our lives.
One of my early achievements in the digital space was co-founding The Digital Education Network and creating EduFind, one of the Internet’s pioneering education portals. This was back when most people were just discovering what the internet was and what it could do – much like many are now discovering AI’s potential.
Throughout my career, I’ve been fortunate to share my experience and knowledge at international conferences and workshops around the globe. I’ve published in the International Journal of Education and worked with organizations worldwide to develop their digital learning strategies. In the early 2000s I developed the English language training site, English4Today, which has helped over a million learners worldwide improve their English language skills.
A particularly meaningful project was developing the online learning system to train leaders of the the Duke of Edinburgh’s International Award for Young People, which reaches young people in over 140 countries. Being recognized as a ‘Friend of the Award’ by HRH Prince Edward was recognition not so much for my own work developing e-learning platforms but for the success and reach that online learning has when developed with a well thought out learning methodology and a sound technical base.
Most recently, I’ve founded Kapazitee Training and Xailia AI, but GraiPower is especially close to my heart. Why? Because it combines everything I’ve learned about education, learning, technology, and the unique way we, as mature learners, approach new challenges.
At 70, I understand first hand the importance of learning AI on our own terms. That’s why GraiPower isn’t just another tech training platform – it’s a community where our life experience and knowledge is valued, and our learning style is respected.
I believe our generation has unique wisdom to bring to the AI revolution. We just need the right guidance, at the right pace, from someone who understands our perspective and the value of what we have to contribute. That’s what GraiPower is all about.
I’m hoping you’ll join me on this exciting journey…
